This one is a bit off the beaten path, I know. However, I feel that my gastronaut duties lie with all means of eating out, even if it’s delivery. I don’t intend on including delivery outlets regularly on here (although I just might. I’m wacky like that.). After Friday night’s dining experience I decided that I must blog about Sir Stelios’ latest Sleazy, I mean EASY offering and that is: EasyPizza.
You get to choose your own 15-minute delivery slot online and depending on when you book, your delivery fee is anywhere from £3 to £5. All pizzas are £4.50. You can see why this would appeal to the masses, especially to the likes of students. Since most students aren’t bothered about food quality, I suspect that they will be EasyPizza’s main source of revenue.
I ordered the pizzas, one 4-cheese and one pepperoni (which was supposed to have loads of pepperoni and of course didn’t) and booked it to arrive at 7.30, when I was expec
ting my friend Erica to come round and indulge in a bit of Veronica Mars with me. The pizza turned up 30 minutes early (what’s the point of booking a time if just going to show up whenever??) and one of the pies was totally smushed against the side of the box, cheese running amuck. I had to put the 2 of them in the oven, not so much to keep them warm but because the dough wasn’t even cooked all the way through. The sauce was sugar-y and tasted like it came out of a huge vat with a black and white label marked “SAUCE, GRADE H” and it was just so very ick. Sure, they’re only £4.50 each but I can pay 50p more for a fantastic pizza from any grocery store’s upscale range (like the Waitrose one pictured here) and have it be about 100 times better. It’s a shame really, I was looking forward to a beautiful relationship with EasyPizza but I deleted my registration details from my email as quickly as they arrived into my inbox.
